Holy Hell, I FINALLY got around to finishing this long overdue drawing!
Okay, background time: Futurama gets canned...again
, they ask for fanart, so naturally I submitted the one I made shortly after hearing of the latest cancellation: sbkmulletman.deviantart.com/ar…
They show this drawing on a special stream on the final night of the series (at 17:25): www.youtube.com/watch?v=8OThQq…
As I mentioned in that drawing, the intended
joke was that Hermes was left out in the hopes of somebody noticing the omission, questioning it, and resulting in me responding with "knowing Hermes, he probably personally fired them all", and making some future drawing of him as a big-shot at Comedy Central, whatever, long story short (too late), the ONE person to notice the omission of Hermes was Phil LaMarr himself on the final night of Futurama. Ever since then I knew I had to make a follow-up drawing fixing
the omission, and I knew I basically had to present myself as LaMarr's personal bitch-boy as he ordered me to paint the picture properly.
And I let a bunch of crap from my day-to-day life get in the way of me finishing this drawing until now. But hey, I finally did it! Also, I couldn't help but throw in the Samurai Jack bit there, as I am a huge, HUGE fan of that show as well, and LaMarr is the voice of Jack himself.
So there you go Master Hermes! It took me a long friggin' time to get to it, but I have corrected this dire oversight, which was actually a joke that at first was a dud that fell flat on its face, and then later became one of the greatest inspirations for a drawing idea I have ever had, and as a fan of Futurama, it was even a wonderfully awkward honor!
